Jesus and Mohammed Comparison

Jesus and Mohammed are two of the most well recognized religious figures to date. While they have their differences both emphasize the renewal in the belief of having one God, or Allah. Throughout this paper I will compare and contrast the lives of Jesus and Mohammed and also compare the impact their deaths had on their respective religions. Next, I will explain how their messages are being carried out today and how they were and are worshipped today. After reading this the reader will have a clear insight into how alike and different the two really are.

Many of us are familiar with the story of Jesus Christ, which began with the angel Gabriel who declared that Mary was chosen to bear the child of God.   Like Jesus, Mohammed was born to a poor family but in a different place called Mecca. This later became known as the Immaculate Conception. The exact location of Jesus’ birth is unknown but traditionally it is thought to be Bethlehem but others believe it was Nazareth. Jesus was raised as a carpenter until he later began to carry out the work of God. Another way that the two are alike is that Mohammed was said to have been visited by the angel Gabriel also. The main difference is that Mohammed was a prophet or messenger of Allah. Historically Jesus is remembered for the many miracles that he performed. The first of these miracles was when Jesus changed water into wine at a wedding. When they ran out of wine Jesus asked the servants to bring him several jars and to fill them with water. He then asked them to take some out and take it to the master of the banquet. Alas, Jesus had turned the water into wine. Unlike Jesus, Mohammed had a fairly uneventful and normal childhood until it was said that he should be guarded against the Jews because he had a great career awaiting him.
